Kings School Canterbury Boat Club


Kings School Canterbury Boat Club is based at Westbere Lakes in Sturry. The Club also has a boathouse at Plucks Gutter on the River Stour.

Pupils from the Kings school have represented Great Britain and England at Junior level and gone onto World Championship and Olympic Games level.

Junior Kings School also row out of the Westbere Boathouse.

News

1/3 - Shells enjoy the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships.

18/2 - Good performances from the two girls at GB trials both moving on to the next stage and invited to Spring Assessments.

3/2 - Hampton Head -  a good number of crews racing across the board with Girls Pair and Girls coxed Four top results coming 4th

 20/1 - Quintin Head - an early run out for the Boys Eight and useful Tideway experience.

13/1 - Boat Club Dinner with Helena Barton oks and Henley winner.

12/11 - Docklands Head - We had 6 crews racing at the Docks - with some good races from the Girls and Boys Eights as a starting point. As well as a win in the WJ 1x.

1/11 - Ghent Camp - a group of 12 seniors stayed at the KRSG Boat Club and spent 3 days training on the course at Ghent. Good sessions and progress made with great refuelling stops!

15/10 -  Maidstone SBH - good first proper day of Head racing for the club. Good conditions and some good results and performances across the board. Wins for the Open Four, J18 Four, Open pair and J17 pair and Single. The Girls won WJ17 Four, J17 Pair with the Boys and Girls Fours winning Pennants for Fastest Boats on the day.

8/10 - Pairs Head - Girls come 3rd in WJunior  Pairs and Boys 13th in Junior Pairs on a very benign tideway.

30/7 - Bear Cochrane grabs a Bronze at the British Beach Sprint Championships.

22/7 - At the Home Countries International Regatta in Ireland the girls, Poppy Brooke-Turner and Tabitha Butterfill won the Junior Womens pair and then doubled down in the Eight winning that as well.

9/7 - At the England Trials for the Team racing at the Home Countries International Poppy Brooke-Turner and Tabitha Butterfill raced their pair successfully gaining selection after posting the fastest time. They will also race in the Junior Womens Eight.

24/6 - THe Juniors raced at Egham Regatta to finish off their season.

23/6 - HRR qualifiers - Boys Eight raced very well and improved relative to a good number of Eights it had previously raced but just missed out. Similarly the Girls Eight raced well but were a couple of slots of qualifying.

16/6 - Womens Henley - The Girls 8 race their Time Trial at 9.30am saturday morning. Livestream is here - Henley Women's Regatta 2023 - YouTube

10/6 - Barnes and Mortlake Regatta - wins for the girls coxed Four and Girls Eight. Some good racing with shells and remove crews progressing but not making it right through to the win.

3/6 - Great result from Butterfill and Brooke-Turner making the A final of Womens Champ Pairs at the Met Regatta - and coming 6th!

29/5 - Some positive results from NSR 23 - with the shell and remove boys getting through to the C Finals, as did the J16 girls and Boys Eight with the girls Four coming 6th in the A Final.

19/5 - Good 2k racing practise at Poplar Regatta in great weather with wins for the Girls Eight and Pilgrims pair. Learning experience for the Boys Eight and the removes eight and shell crews.

30/4 - Chiswick Regatta - race experience for younger pupils (and interesting umpiring experience) and good wins for the 1st Eight in Junior and Open Eights.

 5/3 - Maidstone Head - Great day with the Club winning Open Fours, J18 Fours and J15 Fours, then Womens Junior Fours and Fastest Womens Junior crew. Wins for the Girls J18 pair and the Girls  J16 Four. There were also wins for the Shell girls and Bear Cochrane in Open 1x.

18-19/2 - GB trials - Bear Cochrane with his Westminster pairs partner puts in a 33nd, then with different partners a 34th and a 26th at Boston in the 3k matrix.

4/2- Hampton Head - a good start for the Girls Eight coming 4th, a great step forward, the Boys Eight starting their campaign coming 5th and the Removes Eight getting a first race coming in 13th.

14/1 - Boat Club Dinner - with speakers Nick Strange OKS and Steve Wright OKS from the 1992 Silver medal GB Lightweight Eight.

3/12 - Hampton Head - to finish the term...apart from Christmas Eights (!) we had a good number of crews racing at Hampton Head with a very good set of results from 5th in the Boys single, 4th and 7th in the Girls pairs and 9th in the Boys quads. Results here

14/11 - Good days racing at Teddington with all triallists at Boston showing well with limited time in singles. Teddington Results here

10/11 - After s training camp over half term we have crews racing at Teddington this weekend, and 3 pupils racing at GB trials at Boston.. Teddington Head  info on Event info page.

8/10 - Cambridge SBH - great weather for some racing on the Cam...the coxes and steers had a tough time but still some valuable racing with Bear Cochrane fastest Junior Single and the J16s again showing good pace albeit unchallenged.
